# Analytics

## General

The analytics section of the application is where you can get a visual representation of all of your connected data in both graph and chart form. These are the main areas to be aware of:

* **Accounting Method:** This is where you choose the accounting method that you would like to use when analyzing your financial information:
  * Cash-Basis
    * Cash-basis accounting is a simple accounting method where revenues and expenses are recorded only when cash is actually received or paid.
  * Accrual-Basis
    * Accrual-basis accounting is an accounting method where revenues and expenses are recorded when they are earned or incurred, regardless of when cash changes hands.
* **Date Range:** On the top right of the screen, you will be able to choose the data range and whether the information shows up on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis.
*

* **Showing:** This is where you choose the specific data that you would like to see on the graph and chart. For example, if you're attempting to look at your data from QuickBooks Online, you can choose to see your revenue, COGS, expenses, etc.
* **Export to CSV:** When you click this button, you will be able to export all of the information that is shown in the chart section of this page into a CSV file.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://equility.gitbook.io/equility/basics/analytics.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
